Adams named Hibs number two

Hibernian have appointed Ross County boss Derek Adams as assistant to manager Colin Calderwood at Easter Road.[LNB] Calderwood, who secured his first points in charge with a 3-0 win at SPL champions Rangers on Wednesday, confirmed the appointment on Thursday.[LNB]Adams moves to Easter Road after Hibs reached an agreement with County to release him from his contract.[LNB]The 35-year-old, who became County boss in October 2007, led the Dingwall side to promotion to the Irn Bru First Division in 2008 and the Scottish Cup final in May.[LNB]But now he has stepped up to the top flight to assist Calderwood, who succeeded John Hughes as boss last month.[LNB]Adams said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to come to a club of the stature of Hibernian.[LNB]"In particular I'm looking forward to working closely with Colin Calderwood and the talented group of players at the club.[LNB]"I've had three magnificent years at Ross County and leave there with a sense of pride.[LNB]"The club made great progress over that period but it's now time for both Ross County and me to look forward to the next phase.[LNB]"I wish the club every success in the future."[LNB]Calderwood said: "I'm delighted to have secured Derek's services and now feel that we have an extremely strong group of coaches at the club.[LNB]"I have been hugely impressed by Derek's achievements at Ross County and also saw in his Ross County team the type of organisation and dynamism that I want to see at Hibernian.[LNB]"I have no doubt that he will make a strong contribution to our future development."
