Hertha Berlin coach Lucien Favre has snapped up Brazilian defender Kaka from Portuguese side Academica de Coimbra.
The 26-year-old centre-back has joined the Bundesliga outfit for an undisclosed fee on a four-year contract.
Hertha have already strengthened their squad for next season with the capture of midfielder Marc Stein from relegated Hansa Rostock.
"I'm glad that Hertha have offered me a contract," said Kaka.
"The Bundesliga is one of the strongest leagues in Europe and I am excited about the challenge."
