Hertha Berlin have sacked head coach Lucien Favre following their disappointing start to their Bundesliga campaign.

After opening up with a 1-0 success against Hannover, they have succumbed six times in a row and Sunday's 5-1 mauling at TSG Hoffenheim proved to be the deciding factor for the Berlin board.

The side sit bottom of the Bundesliga table with just three points and Swiss coach Favre, who was installed as Hertha manager at the start of the 2007-08 season having previously managed FC Zurich, has finally been dismissed.

Hertha finished fourth last term and are still involved in the Europa League.
