Heine aims to lift Hertha

Caretaker manager Karsten Heine has vowed to lift Hertha Berlin off the foot of the Bundesliga table during his spell in charge.

Heine has been placed in charge after Hertha decided to part company with Lucien Favre following a dismal start to the campaign which culminated in a 5-1 thrashing at Hoffenheim.

Heine said: "It's a great challenge but we haven't got much time.

"We need to start making things work now, but the team certainly has enough quality to do so.

"We need to stop the rot and start building up our courage again."

Hertha face Sporting Lisbon in a Europa League encounter on Thursday.
