      Friedrich rules out Hertha exit

      05 Jan 2010 - 06:34:38

Hertha Berlin captain Arne Friedrich has ruled out leaving the Bundesliga strugglers during the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old Germany international has been linked with the likes of Wolfsburg in recent times, but insists that he will stay put to try and help Hertha avoid the drop.

He told Kicker: "I will be playing on at Hertha until the end of the season, there is no doubt. I am no quitter. I am not going to shy away from any responsibility.

"The interest of VfL Wolfsburg in my services is long standing, but there have not been any bids nor have there been any negotiations.

"I for myself have never had the idea of quitting Berlin. When I became aware of the speculation recently, I immediately phoned (general manager) Michael Preetz to tell him that I do not want to move on."

Meanwhile, Borussia Monchengladbach defender Christian Dorda will miss the rest of the season after suffering a fresh knee injury.

The 21-year-old has yet to feature for his club this season and tore knee tendons during a winter break training camp in Spain.

He has already flown home to Germany and undergone surgery to repair the damaged tendon.
