Hereford United chief Graham Turner bemoaned the lack of a cutting edge after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Chester City on Tuesday evening.
The Bulls dominated possession at the Deva Stadium but had to rely on a late Alan Connell equaliser to salvage a point on a frustrating night in Cheshire.
"We go home disappointed because we passed the ball well but we just didn't get on the end of crosses," said Turner.
"Sometimes you need a bit of luck and when the ball hit the bar and then the rebound hit their keeper who was on the ground, then maybe it just isn't your night.
"In the end I'm quite happy to get a point after we went a goal down, but we really needed all three to get towards the play-offs.
"We got enough balls into their box but we should have got on the end of them."
