Hereford United skipper Tony James admitted that the sending-off of Danny Shipp had helped the Bulls power to a 9-0 demolition of Dagenham & Redbridge.
United tied the best-ever Conference victory with their stunning performance at Victoria Road, with James opening the scoring from the penalty spot after Shipp had fouled Ryan Green.
Afterwards, he told Sky Sports: "The early sending-off set the pattern for the rest of the game.
"But to be fair we attacked really well and put them under loads of pressure and managed to get a lot of goals."
David Brown bagged a hat-trick, with Steve Guinan and Danny Williams netting a brace apiece and Mark Beesley scoring his first goal for the club.
United's nine-goal rout matched the record jointly held by Sutton United and Runcorn.
