Hereford forced to close end

Published: 03 Jul 2009 - 16:10:22

The stand, which is behind a goal and usually houses sections for both home and away supporters, will now be closed for the forthcoming campaign with fans who have already purchased season tickets set to be contacted in regard to alternative arrangements. The other areas of the ground all passed the health and safety tests although maintenance work will need to be carried out on the Len Weston terraced side, which will reduce capacity. There is also some concern about the Meadow End with current legislation stating no-one is allowed to stand on the flat area, something the club are looking to address. Hereford are due to have meetings with various parties, including the Richardsons who are tenants, in the near future to discuss possible developments at the Blackfriars End. Chairman and director of football Graham Turner told the club's official website: "We have initially enquired to the Football Foundation as to the availability of funds towards redevelopment and I'm waiting for their technical advisor to get back to me. It might be a possibility but that's very much only at the initial stages."
