Gulls fly past Bulls

Torquay racked up their first back-to-back home League Two wins after first-half goals from Kevin Nicholson and Billy Bodin gave them a 2-0 win over Hereford.

Left-back Nicholson smashed in a 40th-minute free-kick from an acute angle on the right to break the deadlock following a foul on winger Bodin.

On-loan Swindon forward Bodin doubled the home side's advantage four minutes later with a simple tap-in after a flowing move from the home side.

Playmaker Eunan O'Kane passed forward to target man Rene Howe who rounded Bulls keeper David Cornell before teeing up Bodin.

United could have surged further ahead in the opening minute of the second-half but Cornell did well to palm away Danny Stevens' 20-yard rocket.

Bodin also sent a 57th-minute half-volley just wide from 12 yards.

Hereford's best opportunity came in the 69th minute when Tom Barkhuizen's cross from the right was headed over by target man Nathan Elder at the far post.

Torquay should have scored again seven minutes from time when defender Joe Oastler sent over a superb cross from the right which fell to substitute Taiwo Atieno but his shot was cleared off the line by Hereford defender Rob Purdie.
