Silkmen run riot

Macclesfield gained their first league win of the season with an emphatic 4-0 win over Hereford at Edgar Street.

The Silkmen roared into life after the break as they smashed in four goals, with Tony Diagne and Ross Draper bagging one apiece before substitute Ben Tomlinson added two more.

Hereford started brightly and Stuart Fleetwood had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down early on. Central defender Michael Townsend also headed over the top while Nicky Featherstone was denied by Jose Veiga.

But it was a different story after the break as the visitors took the lead through Diagne's stunning long-rage free kick after 53 minutes.

Draper then lobbed the stranded Russell Hoult from distance after 81 minutes before Tomlinson took centre stage.

The striker climbed off the bench in the 84th minute and netted two close-range efforts in stoppage time.
