Keyte explains board changes

Hereford chairman David Keyte has explained the decision to hand former chairman Peter Hill and vice-chairman Mike Roberts senior vice-president roles at the League Two club. Keyte has revealed both Hill and Roberts expressed their pleasure at the club`s progression in a meeting towards the back end of last year and wished to support the cause. As a consequence they did so by each agreeing to write off their £10,000 loans to the club - as the only remaining long-term creditors - and in return sought some recognition for their years of service at Edgar Street. As a result, a new category of senior vice-presidents was created. The decision has not gone down well with a large proportion of Hereford fans. But Keyte has defended the actions in the long-term interests of the club, telling the official website: "For our part, as a new board of directors, we do not intend to pass judgement on the past 80 years and wish merely to concentrate on the present and future. The only thing we can truly direct. "Senior vice-presidents will have no involvement with the day-to-day running of the club. This role has been created for anyone who wants to show his or her support through financial investment." He added: "Finally, although we have enjoyed celebrating the past and have enjoyed welcoming back cup heroes like Ronnie Radford, Ricky George and Colin Addison this season, it is also vital to have a viable balance sheet as we plan for the future. We have that now."
