Hereford sack manager Pitman

Manager Jamie Pitman has been sacked by npower League Two strugglers Hereford - less than 48 hours after clinching the club's first home win since October.

The Bulls, fighting for their Football League survival, are currently just two points and two places above the drop zone after Saturday's 2-1 triumph over AFC Wimbledon.

Chairman David Keyte told the club's official website: "Although everybody has been working very hard, we felt we needed someone fresh to get things going for the remaining 12 matches."

The triumph over the Dons ended the club's sorry run of 10 games without victory at Edgar Street while it was also their first in eight league matches.

But the writing was seemingly already on the wall for Pitman following a reported board meeting held by Keyte over Thursday and Friday last week to discuss Hereford's current form.

Pitman took charge of the Bulls in 2010 after Simon Davey was sacked.
