Battling Bulls stun Spireites Battling Hereford stopped League Two leaders Chesterfield in their tracks with their best performance of the season providing a 3-0 victory at Edgar Street. A 10th minute strike from Stuart Fleetwood set up the victory against their promotion-chasing rivals. Midfielder Steve Leslie lashed home Hereford's second in the 75th minute from long range before Joe Colbeck rifled home the Bulls third from 18 yards. Hereford were on the attack from the start with Colbeck forcing Chesterfield goalkeeper Tommy Lee to concede a corner at the near post. Winger Colbeck also headed wide from a free-kick taken by James McQuilkin as Hereford continued to pile on the pressure. Hereford's early onslaught eventually paid off in the 10th minute when striker Fleetwood headed into the net with goalkeeper Lee stranded. Chesterfield eventually responded with Jack Lester twice failing to find the target from half chances. Striker Craig Davies also shot over the Hereford crossbar from the edge of the penalty area but back at the other end Colbeck's powerful drive was deflected away for a corner. After the break Davies went close to levelling when he drilled the ball against the Hereford post from the edge of the penalty area. But Hereford remained in command and made certain of victory with two goals in five minutes from Leslie and Colbeck to keep the Bulls clear of the relegation places.
