Brewers leave it late to stun Bulls

Burton fought back to claim a 3-2 victory at Hereford thanks to two injury-time goals in a competitive encounter at Edgar Street.

Midfielder Rob Purdie put the Bulls in front from the penalty spot in the 19th minute, and although Calvin Zola levelled for Albion shortly after, on-loan midfielder Tom Barkhuizen ensured the hosts went into the break with their noses in front.

But Burton rallied late in the second half to snatch victory with two goals in stoppage time through Aaron Webster and Billy Kee.

Purdie opening the scoring from the spot after Zola had fouled Nathan Elder inside the area, although the Albion frontman soon made amends at the other end.

Jaques Maghoma swept over a cross from the left and the unmarked Zola headed past the diving David Cornell into the roof of the net from eight yards.

But Hereford regained the lead in the 34th minute when Barkhuizen latched on to a pass from Purdie before beating Atkins with a low drive from seven yards.

After the break Burton had several chances to level the game with Webster, Zola and Kee all failing to find the target.

Cornell came to Hereford's rescue when he saved on the line from Zola with five minutes remaining.

But Webster eventually levelled for the Brewers in the first minute of injury time with a fine strike from 20 yards, before it was left for Kee to have the final say when he fired home from the edge of the area in the 93rd minute.
