Bulls rediscover home comforts

Hereford ended their barren run of 10 home games without a win with a 2-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon at Edgar Street.

Lyle Taylor and Tom Barkhuizen put Hereford two up at the break before Jack Midson reduced the deficit, but the Bulls held on to record their first home win since October.

Billy Knott went close to putting Wimbledon in front after three minutes with a powerful 20-yard drive, but Hereford took the lead on the counter when Ben Purkiss crossed to Taylor, who hooked the ball into the net from eight yards in the 18th minute.

Wimbledon responded, with Midson heading wide from close range, while Sammy Moore failed to find the target from 25 yards. But Hereford broke again for Barkhuizen to score from six yards after receiving a low cross from Taylor in the 34th minute.

Hereford survived another let-off when Midson drove the ball against the post, while Dons striker Byron Harrison found the net five minutes before the break, only to be ruled offside.

The visitors pulled a goal back through Midson, who rose high above the Hereford defence to beat goalkeeper David Cornell in the 68th minute, and then laid siege to the Hereford goal. But the hosts stood firm.
