23 April 2011 17:39
Shrews win to go third Shrewsbury completed a double over Hereford to enhance their automatic promotion push with a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 victory at Edgar Street. James Collins put the visitors in front in the 28th minute, with Tom Bradshaw claiming the second in the 55th minute to move the Shrews back up to third place. Both sides had half chances in the early stages, with striker Bradshaw having a shot turned away for a corner by goalkeeper Adam Bartlett . Bradshaw also headed inches wide from a cross by Jon Taylor, then at the other end James McQuilkin rifled over the crossbar from a pass by Stuart Fleetwood. However, Shrewsbury swept into the lead in the 28th minute when Collins raced past his marker before beating keeper Bartlett with a low drive from 12 yards. Bradshaw went close to increasing the Shrews' lead a minute later, but his sharp volley was acrobatically saved by Bartlett. Just before the break only a fine save by Shrewsbury goalkeeper Ben Smith stopped Nicky Featherstone levelling for the Bulls when he turned a 30-yard drive away for a corner. But 10 minutes into the second period Bradshaw headed home Shrewsbury's second goal from a back header by Shane Cansdell-Sherriff from a corner.
