Wallace handed Scotland call

Hearts defender Lee Wallace has been called up to the Scotland squad for the friendly international with Japan due to a number of injury withdrawals.

The 22-year-old had previously missed out on selection and had admitted that his form this season had been mixed.

He told the Daily Record: "It was disappointing not to be picked because I heard everyone speaking about it, but it's up to me to knuckle down and make sure he notices me.

"I haven't been playing as consistently this season and must try to recapture the form I was showing at the tail-end of last term.

"I've got to keep plugging away and try to get better."
