Wallace set for Hearts return

News of Rudi Skacel's likely absence from the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at St Mirren has been tempered by the prospect of a Hearts return for Lee Wallace. Skacel has been playing with a small tear in his calf, but manager Jim Jefferies anticipates the Czech Republic midfielder should be fit to play in the New Year's Day derby with Hibernian if he misses Wednesday night's match. But the impact of the blow has been lessened by the prospect of Wallace playing for the first time since suffering a knee injury playing for Scotland against Liechtenstein on September 7, a problem which Hearts initially feared would keep the left-back out for the remainder of the season. "He doesn't look as if he's ever been injured," said Jefferies. "In training he's tackling people, he's working up and down and putting a lot of effort into it. He's not watching himself or trying to save himself. "He's doing well, he's been catching the eye and right now I don't see any reason why we shouldn't put him in the squad."
