Stewart in contract talks

Club captain Stewart wants to get a new deal in place. Michael Stewart has been talking to the club about a new contract for the last two months. Rather than go to the media first, Stewart just quietly went about the business of securing his future. New deals are always delicate and Stewart is just one of a number of senior players whose deals end in the summer. JJ has consistently said he has yet to make a decision on whether he wants to keep those players who are in the final months of their contracts. But midfielder Stewart said: "I started speaking to the club a couple of months ago and we're just in the process of trying to negotiate something. That's the situation as it is at the moment; we're in the middle of talking and we'll see how it pans out." Stewart looks to be sitting out Saturday's derby thanks to the calf tear suffered in the warm up ahead of the game against Dundee United that has ruled him out of the last two games. He said: "It's progressing along quite well. The nature of the injury is that I can't really do any more than my body will let me. If I do then I'll find myself back at square one, looking at three-four weeks out."
