Smith keen to tie up Wilson future

The 18-year-old centre-half set the ball rolling at Tynecastle before a Kenny Miller goal and a double from Steven Naismith sealed the victory.[LNB]Fellow teenager John Fleck penned a new deal on Friday and Smith is confident Wilson will follow suit in the coming days after talks between his representative and chief executive Martin Bain.[LNB]Smith said: "There were one or two things that Martin had to speak to his agents about but hopefully we can complete that this week at some stage.[LNB]"He's had quite a few opportunities in recent matches to score and he will be a little bit disappointed that he didn't get that goal prior to today but getting it today was good.[LNB]"Coming here, you are always hoping to get off to a good start and he got us an early one. You've got to say, for a young player, he is doing exceptionally well for us at the moment."[LNB]Smith also hopes a double will be the start of Naismith returning to top form for Rangers, adding: "He has shown recently in little spells that he is getting back to the form that he was on.[LNB]"His time at Rangers has been badly interrupted by injury. Today I think he showed signs that he is getting back to the form that he showed when he came to us at first.[LNB]"I'm delighted for him because he is a good lad and I'm sure, now that he has got over this initial period and is back to playing, his best football will come in the future for Rangers."[LNB]Despite four goals against the Jambos, top goalscorer Kris Boyd is still waiting to clinch his 100th SPL goal for Rangers in what was a frustrating afternoon personally for the striker.[LNB]"He worked very hard for the team today and that's the main thing," said Smith.[LNB]"He has been doing that for us this season. He is now back from the injury spell and he is workin hard for us. The goals will come for him, we know that. He has always shown that."[LNB]Smith was pleased to see no signs of complacency against the Jambos.[LNB]He said: "We had to show a good desire to win the game. You are always concerned there is a bit of complacency with the lead that we have and that we might get affected by that.[LNB]"But we showed good desire today and the next three games we have are vitally important for us as well."[LNB]While Boyd appears to have stalled, Miller has set his sights on 20 goals this season after adding to the winner he netted in last week's Co-operative Insurance Cup final.[LNB]He said: "There are nine games to go and I want to get as many as I can. I want to score in every game.[LNB]"Being realistic, that's probably not going to happen. But I want to chip in when I can. I'm on 18 and the next target is 20. Any striker would say that 20 goals a season is a good return."[LNB]Hearts boss Jim Jefferies admits they only had themselves to blame for the loss.[LNB]He said: "It shouldn't have been 4-1 but because of the gifts that we gave away, it was 4-1.[LNB]"We were punished for silly mistakes, especially in defence, and you don't get away with that against Rangers, especially with them going for the title. We beat ourselves today."[LNB][LNB] Scottish Premier Winner 2009/10 Win Outright: Rangers 1/750
