Romanov hints at departures

Majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov has hinted at a January exodus of players from Hearts.

Homegrown talents Christophe Berra and Andrew Driver are just two of the players linked with moves away from Tynecastle in the new year, with reports suggesting Romanov is keen to reduce the wage bill.

"We do not have particular aims in the SPL but just want the team to play quality football and bring joy to the fans," he told the Daily Record.

"We also aim at making the class of our players grow, so we can sell them later.

"Every footballer should improve and move to a better level of football. We shouldn't prevent them from doing it.

"Many of our players are in high demand in England, Germany and Russia."
