Jim Jeffries wants to avoid huge gaps being created in the middle of his side. He wants to have adequate cover. Jim Jeffries is still not happy that he has the right balance to his squad for the 2010-11 season. With Michael Stewart and Laryea Kingston leaving the Tynecastle side Jeffries wants at least one more midfield players on the books. Jeffries wants a bigger squad to cope with the inevitable injuries that will limit his options during the season thanks to   Andrew Driver being out of action for large parts of the season as Kingston suffered a persistent hamstring injury. The Hearts manager wants to avoid this sort of thing again this season. He said: "You can't just go with the squad that we had last year, especially when you look at all of the injuries that we had. These kinds of things can happen again so we have got to make sure that we have got players competing for places in every position throughout the team. Then if they are needed, be it through injury or tactics, you know that you have got options."The transfer window stays open after the season starts so Jeffries will bide his time to get the right players. He said: "If we can add a player or two to the squad that we already have, then that gives us a bit of strength in depth, when you consider that we have got some good young boys also coming through. There is no immediate rush for people that we are after and there's no panic to make a decision. The transfer window doesn't close until the end of August and we'll keep working away. If we can get the guys that we are after, then great. If we can't, then so be it. We will move on. We are trying to strengthen our midfield, I don't think that's any secret, and we are working to do that but there's nothing imminent at the moment."
