Neilson sent for ankle surgery

Hearts defender Robbie Neilson has gone under the knife in a bid to cure a long-running ankle problem.

The Scotland international has not featured for the Edinburgh club this season and has now been sent for a surgery in a bid to resolve the ankle problem.

Neilson also missed the closing weeks of the last campaign with a stomach muscle problem.

"Hopefully everything will go okay and I can start my rehab as soon as I get back," he told the club's official website.

"It's been frustrating for me but I'm hoping this will be the end of it."
