Neilson keen for deal talks

Hearts defender Robbie Neilson is keen to pen a new Tynecastle contract as soon as possible.

The Scotland international's current deal is set to expire at the end of this season when he could leave the Jambos on a free transfer.

"My contract situation has been going on since last season," said Neilson.

"I've spoken to the manager and he's looking to keep me, but it's not him that puts the contracts out, so I'll need to speak to (majority shareholder) Mr Romanov.

"It's early doors. I spoke to the manager and he's looking to keep me. But the situation at Hearts is that it isn't the manager that puts the contract out so I'll have to speak to Anatoli Korobochka, the sporting director, and Mr Romanov himself.

"We'll wait and see what he's got to say. Hopefully he'll be over in the next few weeks. I'd like to think he'd be over before the end of the season."
