MacDonald form delights Jefferies

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies has praised the form of Jamie MacDonald, with the back-up goalkeeper poised to retain his place for the Scottish Cup fourth-round tie with St Johnstone at Tynecastle. The clash was postponed from Sunday due to burst pipes at Tynecastle but is still likely to come too soon for number one Marian Kello. Slovakian Kello has been out with a back complaint but MacDonald has achieved clean sheets in the two games in which he has deputised - the 2-0 win at St Mirren and the 1-0 Edinburgh derby victory over Hibernian - much to Jefferies' joy. "Marian will train this week hopefully but the game will come too soon for him," Jefferies told Hearts TV. "Jamie MacDonald has stood in fantastically for him and Janos (Balogh) has just been unlucky. "We have three really good goalkeepers at the club and a couple of good young ones as well so we are well off in that department. "We will make sure Marian is right when he has cleared up everything and that he is fit and well when he is ready to compete again. That's not too big a problem for us as Jamie has done extremely well."
