Laszlo still hopeful over signings

The Hungarian is keen to bolster his threadbare attacking options, having lamented the lack of a proven goalscorer since the start of the season.[LNB]Charlton striker Izale McLeod and out-of-favour Plymouth marksman Steven MacLean both trained with the Gorgie outfit at the start of the month with a view to joining, but the former has since joined Peterborough on loan after Hearts stalled on making an offer.[LNB]MacLean still remains an option despite Aberdeen's interest while Hearts have requested permission to speak to Falkirk captain Darren Barr, who is out of contract in May, and Laszlo believes there is still a chance of fresh faces arriving this month.[LNB]He said: "I have given my short-term and long-term plan to the sport director (Aleksandr Metlitski), I don't like to speak about names. Even if someone (only) has a contract to the summer, I don't speak about this player.[LNB]"I have spoken about two names before and they were here. One player (McLeod) signed for Peterborough, the other player on the list (MacLean) is not finalised.[LNB]"We have other names and I hope with the new sport director we have the right person that can go and deal in this direction in the interest of the club."[LNB]Former Belarus internationalist Metlitski has also been tasked with conducting negotiations with Hearts players coming to the end of their contracts and Laszlo has revealed several meetings have taken place this week.[LNB]Captain Michael Stewart, Jose Goncalves, Marian Kello and Christian Nade are among those in the final six months of their deals.[LNB]Laszlo, whose side are looking to bounce back from the weekend's Active Nation Scottish Cup fourth round defeat to Aberdeen when they take on St Mirren on Friday in the Clydesdale Bank SPL, said: "I know this week the sport director had a separate meeting with all these players.[LNB]"I have given my plan and we must look to long-term, which players we hold and which players leave. My wish is that players that bring performance and have experience, we must keep."[LNB]Laszlo is also refusing to give up in his bid to convince towering defender Goncalves to remain in Edinburgh even though the Portuguese has outlined his intention to quit this summer.[LNB]He said: "I know he (Metlitski) spoke to Jose Goncalves, we have had two or three meetings with the club and nothing is finalised.[LNB]"When I talked with Jose, he said he would like to stay and improve with the team and maybe also for next season to play for Hearts."[LNB]Laszlo has been linked with making a January move to re-sign Bruno Aguiar from Omonia Nicosia.[LNB]The midfielder quit Gorgie last summer to follow team-mate Christos Karipidis in moving to Greece.[LNB]While admitting he keeps in touch with several former players, Laszlo played down talk of snapping up the Portuguese playmaker.[LNB]He said: "I think Bruno is a very interesting player, also Karipidis. Maybe one time in the future I will work with these players but you don't know.[LNB]"I said before, Bruno and Karipidis have contracts with Omonia."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
