    Last-gasp goal downs Hearts

    24 Aug 2009 - 12:23:24

Hearts cruelly lost 2-1 against reigning champions Rangers in a heated clash at Tynecastle.

Jesus Manuel Suso and Kenny Miller were cautioned within three minutes and just ten minutes later Rangers' Kevin Thomson received his marching orders after a crude lunge of Hearts midfielder Ian Black.

David Witteveen opened the scoring for the hosts before a Lee McCulloch header levelled the contest.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until Kris Boyd struck home a late penalty after Steven Naismith was tripped in the box by Ismael Bouzid.

Manager Csaba Laszlo was happy with his team's effort but he feels the squad needs added to if they are to succeed this term.

Laszlo admitted: "Everybody saw our problem. I think I must not talk all the time about what we need if the club have a target to move forward.

"Last season we reached a good position. This season we will definitely not be down playing against relegation, but our target is to keep the position that we have and at the moment if we like to do this, we must do something.

"This is painful for me. I like always to protect my team, but now something must happen. This was our third game in a week and for a young team that's not easy to handle."
