Hearts striker Kevin Kyle underwent successful surgery on a double hernia this week, manager Jim Jefferies revealed on Friday.
Kyle has been absent with a groin and stomach problem since January 11 and saw a specialist on Tuesday, straight away undergoing an operation in a bid to rectify the problem.
Jefferies said: "We took him down to see a specialist and they've gone on a process of elimination and it was a double hernia which we got done immediately.
"(Dundee United striker) Jon Daly recovered in a couple of weeks from a hernia situation."
The Hearts boss added Kyle will resume training on Monday.
Jefferies said: "Who knows? A couple of weeks and we might have him for the run-in."
