Jefferies given player go-ahead

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies has been given permission to seek midfield and attacking additions to his squad in the transfer window.

Jefferies has held talks with club owner Vladimir Romanov after sanctioning the departures of out-of-contract quartet Michael Stewart, Laryea Kingston, Jose Goncalves and Christian Nade.

"We agreed the areas we need to look at are midfield and up front and moves have already been made," revealed the Tynecastle boss on the club's official website.

"I said previously I would sit down at the end of the season and make a decision about players moving on and players coming in and all the talks with Mr Romanov went well.

"I have talked to Mr Romanov about targets and they were happy to give me the go-ahead to try to sign them.

"There is a nucleus of a very good side here and it just needs strengthening in certain areas."
