Jefferies relieved by Ogilvie news

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies is glad managing director Campbell Ogilvie is not a contender to be the SFA's new chief executive.[LNB] Reports had claimed SFA vice-president Ogilvie was among the favourites for the post that Gordon Smith dramatically resigned from on Monday.[LNB]But it is understood Ogilvie will not ask to be considered for the role as he awaits his likely appointment as president when George Peat's period in office ends next year.[LNB]Jefferies, who returned for a second spell in charge at Tynecastle in January, said: "Campbell Ogilvie has been terrific since I've come in. I've known him for a long time.[LNB]"He doesn't get involved at all with the football side of things; he's more there guiding us in terms of the strength he has as a general manager.[LNB]"I'd love him to stay at the club. His side's not the chief executive side; he's got strengths in other areas.[LNB]"Maybe that's why he might get offered the position (of president)."[LNB]Jefferies was "sorry" to see Smith resign less than three years after his appointment.[LNB]"When he got into the position, I thought it was a good thing," he said.[LNB]"Because we were looking for someone with that football background that he had, I thought he was ideal.[LNB]"I've heard that when he first moved in that he tried to do it (make an impact) but he couldn't do what he thought he might be able to.[LNB]"There's one or two things that he'll look back on and probably regret."[LNB]
