Jefferies: Loss a timely reminder

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies believes the 3-0 reverse at home to Kilmarnock could be a blessing in disguise for his side.

Hearts missed the opportunity to climb to third in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League as Kilmarnock moved off the bottom with an emphatic victory, with Frazer Wright, Conor Sammon and Alexei Eremenko on target.

"Sometimes things happen to make you realise everything isn't always straightforward," said Jefferies.

"A lot of people turned up because Kilmarnock were bottom of the league and they wondered how many we were going to win by.

"We were worried that wasn't going to be the case and Kilmarnock proved me right.

"We can have no complaints, they were quicker and sharper and their movement was better.

"It's maybe a timely reminder - we had a chance to go third in the league - that in this league you can't take anybody for granted.

"You've got to go and earn the right to win - Kilmarnock came here and did that and deserved to win the game."
