Hearts boss Jim Jefferies hopes to team up new signing Stephen Elliot with Kevin Kyle for this weekend's Clydesdale Bank Premier League opener against St Johnstone at Tynecastle. Jefferies was delighted to sign the Republic of Ireland striker on a two-year deal yesterday following his release from Preston. Kyle, who signed from Kilmarnock earlier in the summer, is battling back from a knee injury but Jefferies told the club's official website: "We're certainly expecting Stephen to be involved on Saturday against St Johnstone and I've not given up hope that big Kevin might be able to get a run out at some stage, too. "The boys know each other extremely well from their time at Sunderland where they formed a formidable partnership. "It's very exciting for the supporters, and I can tell you it is an exciting prospect for me and the coaching staff too that we've got this quality and experience at our disposal for the season ahead."
