Jefferies encouraged by Elliott

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies has been encouraged by the fitness of Stephen Elliott ahead of the visit to Aberdeen on Saturday.

Elliott has only made two substitute appearances since arriving from Preston in the summer. But the Republic of Ireland international could now be over his hamstring problems after impressing Jefferies in a 2-0 bounce game win over Hamilton.

"Stephen looked sharp in the game against Hamilton which was very encouraging," Jefferies told Hearts News.

"He didn't play the full 90 minutes as I didn't want him picking up an injury with him tiring towards the end."

David Templeton suffered a dead leg in the game but Jefferies is hopeful of the winger being fit for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at Pittodrie.
