Hearts sack manager Laszlo

Manager Csaba Laszlo has been sacked by Hearts after 18 months in the Tynecastle hot-seat.

The Romanian coach guided the Edinburgh club to a third-placed finish in the Scottish Premier League last season but has now left with immediate effect.

"Hearts today announced the departure of Csaba Laszlo from the club with immediate effect," read a club statement.

"The club has begun the search for his replacement and hopes to make the new appointment at the earliest opportunity."

Laszlo was believed to have been at loggerheads with the club's board over a lack of funds to strengthen his injury-ravaged squad.

When asked at his Friday press conference if he would be able to sign a new striker before the window closed, a frustrated Laszlo replied: "This is a question which I think I've got 2,500,083 times.

"I don't think that now in these two days something will happen.

"The club's had one month and nobody's come. If somebody comes, it's a bonus.

"I've been here for 19 months and all the time the problem's been there."
