Hearts launch Zaliukas appeal
30 Dec 2008 - 14:17:26
Hearts have launched an appeal in a bid to overturn the red card shown to Marius Zaliukas during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen.
The Lithuanian defender was one of two Hearts players dismissed by referee Iain Brines during a stormy game at Pittodrie.
Zaliukas was shown a second yellow card after 73 minutes for appearing to aim an elbow at substitute Andrew Considine.
"I hope that Mr Brines might rescind the red card," manager Csaba Laszlo told the club's official website.
"Marius is a lovely guy and a guy who is not prone to being aggressive or violent.
"We feel very sure having watched the DVD of the incident in real time and slow motion that it is right to make the appeal."
