Hearts ask for ref explanation

Hearts have asked for a formal explanation of the performance of referee David Somers during their controversial Scottish Premier League defeat to Hamilton last Saturday.

Manager Csaba Laszlo has written to the Scottish Football Association expressing his "serious concern" after Hearts had captain Michael Stewart and Ismael Bouzid sent off during a 2-1 defeat at New Douglas Park.

Suso Santana and Ian Black were then shown red cards following reports of a post-match melee in the tunnel.

Stewart's red card looks set to be rescinded but Laszlo has demanded an explanation of the referee's decisions.

"Clearly I try as much as possible to be fair with my comments regarding referees and if you look back at my time since becoming Hearts manager you will see I am actually very positive in my comments where I can be," he said.

"However, it is clear to me that I share the views of a number of other managers who genuinely believe that the standard of officiating is one of the biggest challenges the game in Scotland faces."
