Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson opposes talk of a league restructure

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson thinks Falkirk are wasting their time calling for a 16-team top flight.

Falkirk, who sit just behind Rangers and Hibernian in the Ladbrokes Championship table, have argued that Scottish football needs to expand the Premiership to save attendances from falling and help Scotland's performances on the international stage.

Hearts won the Championship last season and now sit second in the Premiership table but Neilson feels a 30-game league would not work.

Speaking ahead of the sell-out Tynecastle clash with Dundee, Neilson said: "Every two years we look at something different, don't we? A 10-team league, a split here and split there.

"At the end of the day it comes down to money and TV revenue. The bigger league you have, the less big games you have and the less revenue for clubs.

"We take big crowds to away games two times a season. Teams would only get that once. We could sit here and say we want to do this and that, but ultimately it comes down to the revenue.

"In a football sense it would be great to have more teams but these teams have to be at a level where they can compete and where people want to come and watch.

"I think it can become predictable but it comes back to finances."

Hearts midfielder Jamie Walker will sit out another two to three weeks with a knee injury but left-back Juwon Oshaniwa rejoins the squad.

Alim Ozturk is back in training following hernia surgery but is unlikely to feature while striker Soufian El Hassnaoui is still building up his fitness after a knee injury.

Dundee have a full squad available after defenders James McPake and Julen Etxabeguren both recovered from recent injuries.

And manager Paul Hartley has urged side to deliver a 90-minute performance when they face his former club at Tynecastle.

A dominant Dundee led 1-0 at half-time against Hearts at Dens Park in their first Ladbrokes Premiership meeting of the season but Neilson's men came back strongly after the break to win 2-1.

Hartley said: "It's a big game. We know Hearts are a good side and have been doing very well this season.

"Against them earlier in the season, we were excellent in the first 45 minutes and could have been a couple of goals up had we taken our chances.

"But it was different after that as we faced a different Hearts team in the second half. So we know what to expect and are prepared for it.

"The good thing is this is the first time I have had a full squad this season, which is obviously good. It's a good headache to have now that everyone is back. There are places up for grabs."

Dundee have slipped out of the top six after failing to win in four games but have only lost one of their last six.

And Hartley said: "A lot of people have looked at our start and been a bit negative on it. But we have the same points as Ross County sitting in fifth.

"We feel we're not too far away and when we get our strongest team together we believe we should be pushing for the top six."
