Hearts hoping to beat weather

Hearts remain optimistic Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League match with Aberdeen will go ahead as scheduled despite the adverse weather which has wreaked havoc across Scotland. A precautionary inspection of the area surrounding Tynecastle will be held on Friday morning with the local authority and police, but Hearts expect the match to take place. A club spokesperson said: "We would like to record our thanks to the wide variety of people and companies who have been involved in helping the club over the past week and even [on Thursday] our Under-19 squad are clearing the pitch, stadium concourses and steps of the remaining snow and ice. "Significant progress has been made over the last 24 hours and it is clear the pitch is in very good condition considering the recent weather." Hearts, who have won their last four games 2-0, have not played since defeating Hamilton on November 20.
