Stephen Elliott got a chance to measure up Scottish football against English football as he watched Hearts v Blackburn Rovers yesterday Jim Jefferies has not given up on the chase for Republic of Ireland striker Stephen Elliott to bring him north of the border. The 26-year-old was a guest at yesterday's 1-1 pre-season friendly against Blackburn and will continue discussing a possible move from Preston. A club statement read: "We've been talking to Stephen over the last day or so and will continue to do so over the coming days. He's our guest at today's game as he takes a look around the stadium and our facilities. This has also given him the opportunity to sit down with Jim Jefferies to discuss things." Meanwhile, Marius Zaliukas has been named club captain for the new season. Jefferies said: "I made Marius captain when I came to the club and he did the job well. He has been captain for our pre-season friendlies and will be skipper for the season. He is vocal, has a presence about him, is a quality player and a leader. There is time yet to talk to him and hopefully we can keep him longer. "
