Gordon to lead Hearts

Goalkeeper Craig Gordon has been named Hearts' new captain following Steven Pressley's exit from the club.

Former skipper Pressley left Tynecastle by mutual consent last weekend after falling out with majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov over team morale.

Scotland's number one Gordon has been given the honour by coach Valdas Ivanauskas and will lead Hearts for the first time in Saturday's home clash with Aberdeen.

Meanwhile, Hearts have confirmed that Paul Hartley will remain vice-captain of the club despite attending a disciplinary hearing on Thursday following his support of Pressley.

Both Hartley and new skipper Gordon had flanked Pressley when he made a statement claiming there was "significant unrest" in the Tynecastle dressing room back in October.
