Gers seal Wallace transfer

Rangers have completed the signing of Hearts full-back Lee Wallace for a fee in the region of £1.5million.[LNB] The SPL club has announced that Wallace has passed his medical and signed a five-year deal at Ibrox.[LNB]Rangers had been chasing the 23-year-old Scotland international all summer and saw two bids rejected before coming back with a third offer.[LNB]And that was reluctantly accepted by Hearts, who were hoping to tie down their youth product to a new deal.[LNB]Wallace missed much of last season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury on international duty but recovered quickly and has appeared in the Jambos' last two pre-season outings.[LNB]His signing comes before the deadline for Tuesday's Champions League third qualifying round tie against Malmo so he will be competing with Sasa Papac for a role against the Swedish outfit.[LNB]One man that is happy about Wallace's arrival is Rangers midfielder Lee McCulloch.[LNB]He said: "He's a good player. Any time he has played against us, he has done really well.[LNB]"It's another fresh face if it happens and, if he does come, I think it will be a good signing."[LNB]While Wallace appears Ibrox-bound, Rangers look set to miss out on former striker Kenny Miller, who is in talks with Cardiff after they met Bursaspor's asking price.[LNB]McCulloch said: "I wouldn't say it's a disappointment. If Kenny signs for Cardiff, it means he wanted to go there.[LNB]"He's a great player and he did really well for us when he played here and we all got on really well in the dressing room.[LNB]"If he had come back, it would have been to open arms from the players but it doesn't look that way."[LNB]If Wallace completes his move, he will become only the second signing of the summer for Rangers following the capture of Spanish midfielder Juan Manuel Ortiz.[LNB]And McCulloch admits he would like to see a few more new additions to the squad with the start of the SPL season looming this weekend.[LNB]He said: "There is still time to bring in new faces. I wouldn't say we needed new players but they would help.[LNB]"If new faces came in, it would give everybody a lift so it would be good to get a few in."[LNB]Rangers face a busy start to the campaign, with a Champions League qualifier against Malmo just a few days after their SPL curtain-raiser against Hearts.[LNB]But McCulloch insists they will focus on domestic matters and ensure they begin the defence of their title with a win before switching their focus to the Swedes.[LNB]He said: "The Hearts game is the next game so I don't think we can get too ahead of ourselves.[LNB]"It's the first SPL game of the season and we just have to get a result from it. Then we will look to the next game.[LNB]"It's a home game on Saturday and we have to try to win it.[LNB]"That's what we are going to do but Hearts are a very good team and it should be a good game on Saturday."
