Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee wants to sign former Hearts midfielder Paul Hartley, who is looking to leave Championship side Bristol City.[LNB] Hartley is widely tipped to link up with former employers Hearts following his release from Bristol City - but McGhee is keen on recruiting the 33-year-old.[LNB]The Scottish star struggled to settle in England and wants a return north of the border to ply his trade and a tussle for his services could emerge.[LNB]McGhee admitted his interest in the veteran - although he also has his eyes on Lee Hendrie should he fail in his bid to lure the player to Pittodrie.[LNB]"We need to add more experience to the squad," said McGhee in the Daily Record. "Hendrie or Hartley would give us that."[LNB]He added: "But whether we sign Hendrie will be influenced by a lot of things including how we get on with Hartley.[LNB]"We have been told there is a chance of getting him and we are pursuing it. We will now approach the player and his agent and see what comes of it.[LNB]"We do not know at this stage what else has been offered to Hartley."
