Brines appointment irks Sergio

Hearts manager Paulo Sergio is unhappy with the appointment of Iain Brines as fourth official for his team's SPL meeting with Dunfermline.[LNB] Brines angered the Portuguese manager when he disallowed an Eggert Jonsson goal for handball during the Edinburgh club's 1-0 Scottish Communities League Cup defeat by Ayr United last month.[LNB]Sergio said: "I am not happy with that. I am not happy to have him at Hearts games, I'm sorry."[LNB]Sergio criticised Brines after the match and at another media conference later in the same week when he claimed the referee and his assistant had given the goal before changing their minds.[LNB]And Sergio said on Thursday at the pre-match media conference ahead of Saturday's East End Park clash: "He told me the linesman said to him that it was a handball, but now he is saying that he saw a handball. I am not happy to have him in my sight."[LNB]Brines has also upset Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov in recent seasons.[LNB]Romanov ordered Sergio's predecessor, Jim Jefferies, to remove Marius Zaliukas from the team to face Rangers in May because match referee Brines had twice sent off the Lithuanian previously.[LNB]But Jonsson received a red card in the 4-0 defeat - the second time the Iceland international had been sent off by Brines at Ibrox in two seasons.
