Brave Elliot wins praise

Hearts' assistant head coach Stephen Frail picked out young striker Calum Elliot for special praise as the Jambos eventually beat Dunfermline 4-1 after extra-time to reach the last eight of the CIS Cup.

The 20-year-old scored twice against the Pars despite suffering a dislocated thumb early in the game.

Frail told the Edinburgh Evening News: "He came off early in the game to get it put back in place and he was in agony getting it done.

"I think he probably wanted to come off but we had to take Christian Nade off.

"That's great credit to the boy, it shows his hunger for wanting to play."
