Banks happy as back-up

Hearts' back-up goalkeeper Steve Banks is ready to stay in the background, if Scotland number one Craig Gordon remains at Tynecastle next season.

Gordon has been linked with a number of clubs in England following a string of excellent displays for both club and country, but Banks is not sure whether his colleague will be moving on.

He told the Daily Record: "I am not surprised about the speculation surrounding Craig. He has had a couple of great seasons while I have been here.

"Whether he will be here or not I really don't know. I came to the club two seasons ago under no illusions why I was here.

"Craig was the number one and they needed someone with experience to go in and do a job when needed.

"I have done that for two years. If Craig is here another year then it might be another year like that for me.

"Who knows what the right route is for him. He will know what to do and he'll find the right move and I'm sure he'll do it when he's ready."
