Assessing targets

Testing players in pre-season training can be difficult without the competative edge a real game provides. JJ will have two new players (to him) to access with midfielder Adrian Mrowiec returning to Riccarton for pre-season training alongside  former Lithuanian youth internationalist Rytis Leliuga, on trial from the Danish club HB Koge. Mrowiec was at Tynecastle during season 2008/09 on loan from FBK Kaunas. However, he moved to join Arka Gdynia of Poland last summer.  Jefferies will be watching him closely mindful that Mrowiec can operate effectively in central defence. Jeffries said: "Adrian is well known to the club having been here before. He had some injury problems but has gone away and played regularly in Poland so I'll have a look at him"Leliuga knows a bit about British football from his time on Exeter City books during season 2005/06. He also played for Norwegian club Bryne and is known as an attacking midfielder who can also play as a striker. Jefferies said: "The other lad has been recommended to us so we'll see about him. He's joining a (Hearts) team going to the tournament in Oban this weekend which will be a mixture of young players and reserve lads. If the reports are good, we might have a look at him in Italy for a couple of days."
