£3.5 m for Driver is not enough
Vladimir Romanov is looking for more that the quoted £3.5m for Driver and knows who has that kind of money Hearts have changed their mind about putting a £3.5million price tag on Andrew Driver. It would appear that this would just be the opening payment with a further £1.5million to follow for a permanent deal. The willingness to sell Driver has attracted interest from Burnley plus inquiries from Chelsea, Wigan, Middlesbrough and FC Twente. Owner Vladimir Romanov is said to be talking to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich about a loan arrangement leading to a potential £5m transfer.Burnley is the only club which have made an offer, made up of an initial £1.5million and the remainder in add-ons. However, Hearts director Sergejus Fedotovas has made it clear that serious enquires for Driver must have the figure £3.5million attached. Romanov is dealing with Chelsea's interest himself as he and Abramovich are close friends..Hearts director Sergejus Fedotovas said: "We absolutely know what we want to achieve. We have had a number of discussions with a few clubs and I'm glad we have been getting very healthy interest in the player. If we get a proposal which falls within our expectations then we will consider it very seriously. If not, then we will keep the player for the benefit of the team. To a larger extent, the interests of the player and the club coincide – for us to achieve a sizeable transfer fee and the player to get to a higher level to continue his development would be quite important."
