Hearts have handed Steve Banks a two-and-a-half year contract to work as the club's goalkeeping coach.
The 36-year-old moved to Tynecastle from Gillingham in the summer of 2005 and has made 25 appearances for the Jambos.
Banks has been working as goalkeeping coach on an interim basis since Jim Stewart left the club earlier in the season.
Caretaker manager Stephen Frail told the club's official website: "It's great news for Hearts. When other clubs want you and you pledge your future to Hearts, it gives everyone a boost.
"I'm really pleased that he's decided to stay with Hearts. It's fantastic for everyone connected with the club."
