Hartlepool United manager Danny Wilson is being linked with a summer swoop for Ayr United midfielder Ryan Stevenson.
The 23-year-old former Chelsea trainee has been in fine form this term, finding the net 16 times for the Honestmen.
The Scottish second division side are resigned to losing one of their star players this summer and Victoria Park appears to be his likely destination.
Stevenson has spent the last 18 months with Ayr having initially moved to Scotland almost six years ago when he signed for St Johnstone.
The midfielder told the Northern Echo: "Full-time football in England appeals to me and my agent has told me Hartlepool have been watching me."
