Doncaster Rovers have distanced themselves from rumours of an approach for Hartlepool United defender Darren Williams.
The 29-year-old handed in a transfer request following Pools' relegation to League Two, but Rovers boss Dave Penney says that Williams is not a target for his club.
He said: "We've just paid £130,00 for James O'Connor from Bournemouth, so right-back is the last position we are looking at.
"I don't know where that rumour has come from but we are certainly not interested in any right-backs."
Williams has been at Victoria Park for just one season, having previously had spells with York City, Sunderland and Cardiff City.
